Pratt, E(dwin) J(ohn)
(4 feb. 1883, Western Bay, Nfd., Canadá–26 abr. 1964, Toronto, Ont.).

Poeta canadiense. Tras recibir una formación clerical, enseñó durante muchos años en la Universidad de Toronto. Su primer libro, The Titans [Los titanes] (1926) contiene uno de sus poemas más conocidos The Cachalot [El cachalote], en el que se narra una cacería de ballenas. Brébeuf and His Brethren [Brébeuf y sus hermanos] (1940), tal vez su mejor obra, relata el martirio de los misioneros jesuitas. Entre sus libros posteriores, se destacan Dunkirk (1941), They Are Returning [Están regresando] (1945), Behind the Log [Tras la bitácora] (1947) y Towards the Last Spike [Hacia el último clavo del riel] (1952).
